NTR, a leading European renewable energy specialist, is delighted to announce that it has achieved operational status across another eight sites in Ireland, UK, France, Spain and Finland. This amounts to a total of 268.5MW of new wind and solar energy assets providing over 108,000 homes across Europe with clean power.
With almost five decades of experience investing in and managing infrastructure assets, NTR has grown its current portfolio to 60 assets across Europe. The business prides itself on delivering strong, diversified and reliable financial returns while contributing to a more sustainable energy future. NTR avoids 350,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, providing 500,000 homes with renewable energy each year.
Commenting on this major achievement, Rosheen McGuckian, CEO of NTR plc said: “Reaching energisation across these eight sites is a great landmark when considering the complexity of achieving this across five countries. I am immensely proud and grateful to everyone who contributed to achieving this milestone. The dedicated and highly motivated teams behind these assets play a pivotal role in our commitment to delivering the clean energy transition across Europe.
Full details on each site as follows:
FUND 2 – NTR RENEWABLE ENERGY INCOME FUND II
MURLEY WIND FARM
- Murley Wind Farm, a six-turbine project situated in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland is now fully operational, with capacity to produce 21.6MW of clean energy. As part of a power purchase agreement with Almac Group, a global leader in providing a range of expert services and support across the drug development lifecycle, this project will support them in reducing its carbon emissions from electricity by 95% at their Craigavon campus headquarters.
OCKENDON SOLAR FARM
- NTR’s 58.8MWp Ockendon solar project is now fully energised, providing nearly 17,000 homes with clean power. The 108,000-panel solar farm located in Essex, UK, is an excellent example of land-use transformation having been built atop a 5-million-tonne sealed landfill site, making the most of land that would otherwise be challenging to repurpose.
GOREY SOLAR FARM & MACALLIAN SOLAR FARM
- Both projects are located in Ireland’s sunny Southeast, Wexford. Gorey solar farm located in Gorey and Macallian solar farm located in Enniscorthy are now operational providing a combined 22.1MWp of clean energy. In a power purchase agreement with AIB Group, an Irish bank, the two combined sites will provide up to 80% of the Group’s electricity needs to service its retail and office network of over 270 properties.
FUND 3 – L&G NTR CLEAN POWER (EUROPE) FUND
PAJUPERÄNKANGAS WIND FARM
- Having successfully completed the acquisition of Finnish windfarm Pajuperänkangas, the development is now producing 86.8MW of clean energy, powering nearly 35,000 homes across Finland. Situated in the municipality of Haapajärvi in Finland’s Northern Ostrobothnia province, the asset was this Fund’s first windfarm investment in the country, further supporting NTR’s drive behind Europe’s transition to clean energy.
CRUSCADES & CANET WIND FARM
- French wind project Ferme Eolienne Cruscades and Canet, a six-turbine onshore wind farm near Narbonne, France has been fully energised with a capacity of 13.4MW. The project can provide clean energy for over 5,000 households.
COLOMERA & PINOS SOLAR FARM
- This 55-hectare site situated in the valley of Granada, Spain is now operational and with over 80,000 panels in-situ this 45.72MWp site produces enough clean power to over 22,500 homes. A power purchase agreement has been signed with Huhtamaki, the global food packaging specialist, who will utilise 75% of the power generated from the site.
POBLETE SOLAR FARM
- Another Spanish project, situated in Castile-La Mancha, Spain, Poblete solar farm is now fully energised. Spread over 42 hectares this solar farm is providing 20.07MWp of clean solar energy, enough to supply nearly 10,000 homes with clean power. Holaluz, the electric services company, has signed a power purchase agreement and receives 70% of the clean energy generated to power its operations.
