A European leader in sustainable energy investments

At NTR, we are driving Europe’s clean energy transition.

We’ve been working towards this goal since 1999, when we made our first investment in renewables. With our direct backing of Airtricity we made our first investment into wind, and following this we scaled and diversified, making further direct investments into sustainable infrastructure across the US and Europe. Between 2008 and 2015, we successfully exited these investments for net proceeds of over €1.2bn.

Today, we manage clean energy projects in Europe on behalf of three investment funds. These funds invest in wind, solar and battery storage.

In total, we currently manage 63 separate projects across seven European countries: Ireland, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden and Finland.

We maximise the value of the assets we manage.

We’re involved in every aspect, from sourcing the opportunity right through to exit. On the deal side, we execute transactions, arrange power purchase agreements and source finance for the projects. We have excellent relationships with banking partners.

We are particularly well known for our engineering expertise. We apply best practice engineering principles across due diligence, procurement, construction, and throughout the operational lives of the assets.

It’s this engineering expertise that adds intelligence to our assets. Our focus on innovation along with our decades of experience ensures that the projects are designed, constructed, and operated in an optimal and sustainable manner, contributing to their long-term success.

We don’t see ourselves as just developers, managers and operators: we are stewards.

We are committed to tackling the climate crisis and all of the investments we manage avoid CO2 emissions.

In fact, in just one year our current portfolio of assets can avoid just over 350,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Our green energy has powered the equivalent of almost half a million homes each year. That’s more than enough to power Edinburgh!

One of our key priorities is to protect the land, its ecosystems and biodiversity, and contribute to the wellbeing of the communities in which the projects are located.

With that in mind, we don’t just mitigate any impacts – we aim to enhance the environment of all our assets so that both the assets and their local communities thrive.
